Holy crap. Does anyone else have problems with the straps digging into the back of your leg (behind your knee). I bought the Blackhawk Hellstorm OD pads, and the padding is great, but the straps suck.
Any solutions or what you guys do would be greatly appreciated.

Mine are fine, they have gotten to me on occasion but usually they're ok. Loosen them up? I suppose you could wrap your knee before going out to play, but that seems like a lot of trouble.

I loosened them all the way up but the straps still dig in to that tendon or whatever that hard "stick" behind the knee is. I tried crossing the straps, but the only thing that seemed to work was only fastening the bottom strap, but that induces slippage and floppiness. I'm trying to think of a way to pad my straps right now, but nothing's popping into my head.
Yours didn't hurt when you first got them? Are they the Blackhawk Hellstorm ones?

your wearing them on the outside of your pants right? The BDU's and some thermal wear or whatever you choose to wear under them. They should be enough padding.

Yeah... I'm wearing them over my BDU's, lol. I didn't try them with any thermal pants or anything, just the BDU's. I'll try that and see if it helps.

I've seen GI mattress pads at Glenn's Surplus. They look like about 1/2 inch OD foam rubber. If you were to cut some strips from one of those and glue/stitch/tape them to the straps of your kneepads that would definitely be some good padding. I don't know, that's the best DIY solution I could come up with off the top of my head.

That's a good idea. Where is Glenn's Surplus located? Also, any idea on cost for the mattress pad? I like the idea, though. Also, while I'm there I probably will pick up an OD Balaclava and some Molle stuff for the vest that I bought from Vito (thanks Vito).

Should of bought Alta knee pads, the best around =P
Tony's got the right idea, but a GI foam mattress might be a little too think to use as padding on knee pad straps. Maybe taking like an old towel or something along those lines and cutting it to fit and duct taping it might work to the same affect.

Yeah, i'll try that. I tried using a microfiber cloth cause it grips pretty well, but that didn't go over too well. Alta's? I might have to look them up. Do they have thin/soft straps? The Hellstorm straps are stiff and rigid, causing the "dig-in" effect.

I've been using Alta's since I started and I swear by them, they're comfortable as hell and never slide down your leg, but they may be different for different users. They have an elastic strap on the top and a regular nylon strap on the bottom, and as far as I can guess they wouldn't dig into your skin. They only problem I ever really had was the skin on the back of my knee got kind of pinched between the two straps, but if you adjust them correctly that can be avoided. www.atstacticalgear.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=ST-4851

I like the idea of the nylon on bottom and elastic on the top. Mine are both really thick nylon and they kill. Of course I'm not the skinniest thing by far, lol. Is this where you ordered yours?
*Edit* Before I order them, I'd like to see them in person. This coming Thursday, I might be utilized for your practice, so do you think you could bring them?

I'm pretty sure that's where I got both pairs of mine, I can't quite remember I've had them so long.
I always have them, never play a game without them. Practice is cancelled this week, so next week you can take a look at them if you want.

Sounds good. Thanks a lot for the help. I'll probably end up ordering a pair of these before the event.
