Okay, so I was just taking down my ICS MP5A4 (upgraded by Airsoft Elite) and I was going to see if I could do my own tight bore barrel when I get one and also a new soft guarder hop-up bucking... But I ran into an even BIGGER problem, my gearbox is cracked all the way around and all the way through, right above the cylinder. My gun still shoots, but I was wondering if it is ok to use and shoot still until I get my new gearbox in a couple of weeks... Let me know.
Also, anyone know how to replace a gearbox? I might just order the shell (guarder) and put everything in it myself, but i'm not too sure on how well that's going to go over... Let me know if anyone can help or just explain how.
thanks, dom

Probably not a good idea to use it if the gearbox shell is cracked. If it seperates while you're using it you could end up damaging the internals as well. We had this happen to a TM G3 on our team, and we just sent it down to Blade to have him swap everything over. Like I said on AO, probably not a good idea to do it yourself, but if you can't afford any other options then Arnies Airsoft is the place to look. Sorry we can't help more man, I wish we had a gearbox whiz on the team. It would make upgrading and fixing our guns so much cheaper and easier, but as it stands we have to make do with what we have.

I just spoke with Antwone, he said that if you bought the shell he could put everything back together for you. But he would need the gun for a few days

Sweet Vito, thanks. I will see if I can order that Shell soon. Thursday night I will be able to order it. Is Antwone good with gearboxes? I don't want anything to happen to my only AEG - not that I don't trust him or anything. Will he charge anything?
Also, could he put in a tight bore barrel? I'm getting either an AK length or M4 length for my MP5. Hopefully, but I will seriously consider this.
Thanks a lot for checking man.

He's the only one on our team who's actually taken one apart and put it back together successfully. Would I let him take my gearbox apart? Definitely not. At your own risk man, haha. I'm sure he'll do it for much cheaper than anyone else though.
Why are you getting an M4 or an AK length barrel for you MP5? Do you plan on getting a silencer to cover it? The barrel will stick out the end of the gun.

Antwone is good with gear boxes to an extent, hes put a G36 gearbox back together and it was flawless, but he messed his SAW gearbox up. Im not sure about the tightbore but Ill ask him.

Well, from that, I really can't afford to take any chances, so I'll just take it to Toledo and they said that I can watch them do it.
I'm puttin' an M4 length or AK length barrel (probably m4) because I want better groupings and a little better velocity... I have a silencer (not a very good one) but it will last until I get a Mad Bull silencer. But yeah, I'm getting a little longer of a barrel for better accuracy and distance... I was going to get an M14 earlier in the year, but I just decided to upgrade my MP5, which has been great but sucks cause I can't use it...
By the way, game's on on Friday... I can meet you guys somewhere to lead you to my field.. I'll be honest, it's not the best, but it's a place to play... It's not bad at all though, just a little hard to navigate, and it's separated by railroad tracks... I will have some people coming (at LEAST one more - Dan, the one who also wants to join) so yeah, if you could, bring that gun... and I don't know if Bnagley would want to come up or not, but we could let him know...
Later

It's all good Bnag....
By the way, does anyone know if I do get the M4 tightbore MadBull barrel installed, would I need a new cylinder to help power it? Mine is "4 hole vented cylinder", atleast that's what it said when I got it... Do I need a new one? Thanks for all your help guys.

Your inner barrel does not effect your gearbox in any way. That's why it's probably the best upgrade to start with. It adds range, fps, and accuracy basically without sacrificing or putting additional strain on anything.

All the precision inner barrel does is put a better back spin on the BB.

Cool, thanks guys. I saw online if you have too long of a barrel, the cylinder won't be able to push the bb out the barrel, but an M4 or AK length barrel shouldn't give me any trouble.

If need be Stalker, I could do the work on your MP5, such as installing the barrel and such, I've messed around with quite a few gearboxes, and they all worked afterward. I'll also be one accompanying Stalker (Dom) to the field tomorrow, along with an ex-marine friend of mine who's giving me the ride while my car is in the shop.
