When I send my gun in to get fixed, I am thinking about getting a polycarbonate piston put in instead of my aluminum one, because the aluminum one wore down my gearbox until it finally cracked (my opinion). The only problem with this is having to freaking replace one after so many shots and stuff. Are they any good anyway? I think that it would get EATEN AWAY by my m120 spring. Not sure what to do. Let me know. Thanks

Ok, thanks. I e-mailed Combat Depot lastnight and PM'd Blade on Airsoft Ohio Forums, and still haven't received anything. I hope they have the stuff that I need down there because some of the stuff that I need they don't even have listed on their website. If they need to order, I need my gun by like a week before the 15th of March because I want to be able to break in my tight bore (M4 length).
So far here's what I'm getting done:
1. Systema/Guarder/Classic Army Mechbox Shell 2. Hop-up bucking (probably Guarder) 3. Mad Bull/Prometheus Tight Bore (M4 length) 4. Probably Polycarbonate Piston Head w/Bearings (Systema) - less stress on mechbox shell, bearing reduces spring tension, and vented for better compression 5. And 2 bags of Airsoft Elite .20g bb's
Total Estimated cost: with labor and shipping both ways: $180
This seem like a decent setup? I'm not sure how to get ahold of Blade to ask him.
Vito, does your gun have polycarb piston head/piston? I just was curious if it wears down fast or not.

A metal/aluminum piston is heavier than a polycarb, so it requires more force to push it. This means that your ROF will be marginally lower unless you have the torque (Battery, motor, gears, etc.) to push it faster. A polycarb piston is lighter, but not as durable as metal. So you'll have a higher ROF, but the teeth on the piston might get chewed up, especially if you have a stronger spring. I think you'd be fine going with a polycarb. Here's an excellent article reviewing several name brand pistons. www.airsoftmechanics.com/home/content/blogcategory/0/26/ It's a few years old but everything you'll learn is still relevant. www.airsoftmechanics.com is an excellent site to check out if you have questions on your internals.

Man Tony, that site is amazing. I am trying to contact Blade and get my gun down there, and find out what my "ultimate" setup would be, but he is non-responsive to my airsoft ohio pm's as well as the e-mail i sent to combat depot. Does Combat Depot have a phone number?
I need to get this gun down there and back before the 15th. I want to go to Operation White Orion (think that's the name).
Thanks again for the help. That answered SO many questions that I have and had.

I would say give it time on the e-mail, he's probably just busy.

Yeah it usually will take Blade 1 to 2 days to respond to me. Hes always busy with Combat Depot, the Strikers web site and everything else.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks. By the way, did he do a free shim job on your mechboxes? Or did you have to pay for it. Also a lube job, free with labor fee?

When Blade opens your gear box, he will clean, and re-grease everything

Sweet, thanks for your help. You said shipping only was about $10 one way? Also, what about shipping on the way back? Does he pay? Or do I?

You pay the shipping cost both ways, but its not like your shipping it to Cali

Yea, that's true. i still can't get ahold of Blade though. I'm getting worried that i won't have my gun back in time because some of the things that I am having him put in he has to special order. Did you say that you first send the money so he can get the parts, then send your gun?

Well guys, I am sorry to say this but I am not getting my gun fixed/upgraded by Blade. I still haven't received a reply, and I definitely wouldn't have the parts in my gun that I want (out of stock - special order only). Toledo is going to let me watch them do my gun, as I have watched MANY tutorial videos on how to do the upgrades/repairs. I know what my problem is, and it will be fixed with my selections, so thanks for the help everyone. Here are the parts on the way: Laylax Piston Head and Piston (Polycarbonate - Prometheus) Systema Hop up bucking Systema Tight Bore Barrel (MP5 length - decided to stick with mp5 length) 2 bags of Airsoft Elite .20 g and 1 bag of Airsoft Elite .25g
I also will be purchasing a Systema Version 2 Reinforced Gearbox as well as a hop-up nub from Toledo, as they have them in stock.
Their labor fee is MUCH cheaper than Blade's and i would not have to pay shipping. I wish that I was able to have blade do it though, oh well.
