Sportsman's Den is running a deal this weekend. $589 for a Ruger AR-556. You won't find a rifle of similar quality at that price. www.sportsmansden.com/

If you're just looking for a basic, no frills rifle then that Ruger will fit the bill perfectly. Plus you'll have plenty left over in your budget for optics, accessories etc and it should make for a very good base rifle if you ever want to start tweaking and modifying.

I've heard really good things about the Ruger. I know SIG and S&W usually have good deals from time to time on their rifles and with Christmas coming up there should be some deals.

For $1100 you could snag that Ruger, an EOtech or Aimpoint PRO, and maybe a magpul foregrip or stock if you don't care for the ones that come on the gun. I love my DDM4 but I maxed out my budget and haven't been able to afford to put an optic on it yet.
